A useful estimate starts with the eye, the lens and the policy.

What changes the estimate

Lens design, astigmatism correction, procedure requirements and the inclusions or exclusions of the package all matter.

A price quoted before examination may omit measurements, medicines, special lens powers or care for another eye condition. A case-specific estimate is more useful than a single promotional figure.

Insurance limits

Policies may cap the cataract package or IOL amount. A premium or toric upgrade may create an out-of-pocket difference even when surgery itself is eligible.

Cashless approval is not the same as unlimited coverage. Waiting periods, exclusions, sub-limits, network rules and pre-authorisation can all affect the final approval, which is issued by the insurer or TPA.

Ask for a written breakup

After evaluation and lens counselling, request a case-specific estimate and confirm what is included before deciding.

The estimate should identify the planned IOL category, procedure or facility package, investigations, medicines and follow-up inclusions. Ask which parts remain payable if the insurer approves only the standard package.
